We all had beginnings-you and me-everything we see around us.

Genesis is about beginnings. The book of Genesis tells us that God created everything that exists. But it also tells the failure of humanity and fall to sin and death.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. -Genesis 1:1

God commanded Adam and Eve to take care of His creation and to not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But Adam and Eve responded differently, they disobeyed God and ate the fruit.

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. -Genesis 3:6-7

If we put ourselves in the story, we would not responded any differently. Adam and Eve where so closed to God that time, yet still they fall. Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit it’s like saying to God that they don’t need Him. They sinned.

The story continues with Adam and Eve covering themselves with fig leaves  and made for themselves loincloths. Adam and Eve hid from God, they were full of guilt and shame that they can’t stand before God’s presence(which we can relate to).  God could have snap His fingers and make them disappear, and tell them that “I don’t need you anymore. You disobeyed me.”. But what really blows my mind when I learned about this is that God, instead of condemning them drew himself closer to them.

And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” -Genesis 3:8-9

Does it blows your mind that this Holy God seeks you? All through the old testament Humanity covered up and hid from God, still God sought Humanity. God draws himself closer and closer to us.

And you’ll be surprise that years later, God send His Son-JESUS-God in flesh. God wants to be more intimate with us by sending His one and only Son so that in Him we might have a relationship with Him. You see God seeks you and me, he draws himself closer to us.

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. -Colossians 1:16
